....a random Friday in 8th grade. I anxiously listened as the cast list for The Wizard of Oz was announced over the loud speaker (torturous, right?). I was a total newbie, ambitiously aiming out of my league for the Witch. So you can imagine my surprise when I heard, "...and the role of Dorothy goes to Emily Marcello!" A chance to play that role set my creative path and I never looked back. Playing Dorothy will always remind me of how one chance can begin an entire journey. And that there's no place like home, of course.

Speaking of homes, mine is currently in NYC (woo, Astoria!) with my little family where I continue to learn, grow, and create. I love this jazzy city. There's no place like it.

Other loves? Teaching, writing (children's books, poetry, a comedic short in the works), a good parenthetical phrase, making people laugh, all things food, and The Golden Girls -preferably on loop.
